Summary in English: silver-tongued and brusquely mannered is a story about storytelling. Starting of with my fictional father telling horrid bedtime stories to his 5 naive but fearless children. In some way he seemed to never scare with his gruesome and terrible details. He has an awefully charming manner of speaking, of singing and of listening. He would tell stories about murder, rape and schizophrenia in the most absurd situations, but never did we have nightmares afterwards.
The story evolves to a ten year old me standing in front of an audience of little children singing about a macabre folk tale of my home town.
Summary in English: An Essay about the Artist Joachim Koester's exhibition 'Bringing Something Back' in Kunsthall, Bergen. The text focusses on spider bites and on the similarities between the works of Joachim Koester and the works of myself.
Koester explores the 'Terra incognita', the unknown land within our mind, training our consciousness through experiments and intertwining the rational with the obscure, the grey zone or 'the dark sea of awareness', he calls it, between the unconscious and the conscious. How I am so greatly fascinated by this. Was I my whole life bitten by a tarantula?
Summary in English: the delicate crowd and its acclimatisation is an essay written inspired by a few philosophers like Walter Benjamin and Heraclitus;
Our will is fragile, the only thing we know is that it exists. It adapts to everything around us. But this feeling of community and alikeness has a certain fairness that is greatly appreciated by all of us, the feeling of synchronisity, which seems to be an undescribed emotion. But these echoing followers we are, we have our disabilities, things that make us unique. LIke Heraclitus said "the only way to survive is to let go of our self-defence and follow the stream. In some way imitating seems to be the only way to a unique existence.
Summary in English: about children and excentricity starting from certain artworks in an exhibition in Kanal Brussels this essay is about playing and sublimity, about communication between the young and about pretending.
'It's just a game' was the first sentence I started exploring. The role of a child or an adult in any kind of game is very interesting to me, how the game is being perceived and how it is real or not. The text focusses on the pleasure of pretending to be someone else and the tension or excitement of knowing or not whether something is imaginary.
